Don't you hate it when your disposable razor has rusted because it lays on the side of the tub or sink in a small puddle of water? ME TOO!!  I have a small apartment with only one bathroom.  And I have two teen-age daughters, so we have alot of razors laying around in the shower.  Recently, I crocheted myself a "Bath Set" (bottom right picture) which included two shampoo caddies, a bath puff, and a back scrubber. While proudly hanging my set in the shower and having to throw away three rusted razors, a lightbulb went off in my head.  I need a razor caddy!  But I didn't recall seeing a pattern for one any where when I searched for my other bath set patterns. So, I made one up.  Mine has three holes because it suits my needs. But the pattern can be extended or cut short to suit your needs as well.  Plus, this keeps the razors from laying around in water. It hangs them up so they can drip dry. I haven't thrown away a razor due to rust since I started using it.

You will need:

Two colors of Worsted weight yarn (a small amount of each)

Hook size I

Tapestry Needle


Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc- single crochet

To begin:ch 15, turn

Row1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, 4 sc, skip next 4 ch (this makes a loop to hang the piece with) ,5 sc, ch 1, turn (11 sts)

Row 2:sc across, ch 1, turn (11 sts)

Row 3:repeat row 2

Row 4:3 sc,4 sl st, 3 sc, ch 1 turn

Row 5:repeat row 4

Row 6: sc 3, skip next 4 st, ch 4, sc 3, ch 1 turn

Row 7-18 :sc across, ch 1, turn  (If you are making this for only one razor do not ch 1 and turn at the end of row 18.  Instead, join second color of yarn and continue to Edging instructions below.)

Repeatrow 4- 18 (If you are making this to hold two razors only repeat rows 4-10. At the end of row 10, do not ch 1 and turn. Instead, join second color of yarn and continue to the Edging instructions below.)

Repeat row 4-10 but do not ch 1 at end of row, join second color of yarn, chain 1, turn

Edging:  With second color of yarn ch 1, sc across row, ch 1 at corner,  turn the work sideways and sc into each row up the side of the caddy.Ch 1 at corner, 5 sc across top row, 5 sl st into ch 4, 5 sc across top row, ch 1 at corner, turn work sideways and sc into each row down the other side of the caddy, ch 1 at corner, sl st into first sc of 2nd color, fasten off.Weave in ends

Finishing:Using 2nd color of yarn, make button hole stitches around openings (my sewing skills leave something to be desired). This will reinforce the openings so it will hold up to the weight of heavy razors.
