Replacing the Throttle Position Sensor on the Honda Civic 1999 D15B Engine.

My car had its original throttle position sensor (TPS) since it's manufacturer year of 1999. Although working well I wanted to started replacing certain sensors before they failed due to age. The tps is the first I replaced.

Step 1: Unclip the Tps Connector.

Easy removal of the 3 pin connector. After 16 years the plastic connector is in great condition. Thank you Honda.

Step 2: Unscrew the Original Tps.

The original screws are torx head so I used a 3/8in ratchet with 1/4in reducer to take the two screws out.

Step 3: Remove the Tps and Gasket.

The original tps comes off easily and there was some gasket material stuck on the throttle body. I used a knife to scrap that off.

The last pic shows the old and new sensors with gaskets.

Step 4: Install the New Tps and Calibrate.

Installation of the new tps and gasket is easy. The holes are slotted to allow easy fine adjustment of the tps idle reading. My preference is to have lowest idle rpm.

Be careful not to overtighten the screws since the tps housing will crack!
