Hey everyone!

I found these really cute vintage jars at a garage sale this weekend. The whole box of them cost $1 (There were 14 in total) and I brought them home thinking they would make cute juice glasses. I decided to personalize them a little bit more by adding phrases (mainly to do with the morning as that's when I drink juice). To do this, I bought a glass writing marker from Michaels (a craft store) for $3.50 after a 50% off coupon. The total for this project was $4.50 and 3 hours of my time to make. I made a set of 6 glasses for myself, another set of 6 for a friend and a set of 2 for a different friend.

Step 1: Get Your Materials Ready

Once you have the jars you want to make into glasses, it's time to begin!

Materials Needed:

~Jars or glasses of your choice

~A marker that can write on glass (I bought mine at Michaels for $3.50 after using a promotional 50% off coupon)

~The phrases you want to write on your glasses (I used my computer and downloaded a free font from fontspace.com . The font I chose was called "VintageOne" and then I just created the phrases in Microsoft Word and printed them out).

~Scissors to cut out your phrases

~Tape to tape the phrases into the glass (I used painter's tape as it's easy to peel off)

Phrases:

I had 2 different themes I was considering using but I ended up going with the ones on the left hand side. I chose my phrases around a morning theme as that is when I drink juice. My other option was the phrase "Good Morning" written in different languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Igbo, Polish, Korean, Japanese). As you can see from the images, I decided not to choose the different languages one.

Step 2: Time to Tape!

After you have decided on your phrases and they're all cut out and ready to go, it's time to tape the paper.

I used painter's tape as it's easy to peel off and stick again (this came in handy as it was a little tricky getting some of the phrases centred just right!)

Put your paper phrase face down and apply the tape so the sticky side is facing down as well. After you have the tape on, place the paper inside the glass and make sure it's in position and centred evenly and in a straight line. Take into account that the glass can taper down near the bottom and make the font look different in this area.

Step 3: Time to Trace!

After you have your phrases taped into the glasses it's time to use your paint marker and start tracing.

It can be a little disconcerting trying to trace over the glass but I found I got the hang of it after awhile. The glass magnifies the letters and makes it seem like there are two sets when you're tracing but as long as you keep a steady hand it should turn out fine.

Step 4: Peel Off the Tracing Paper

After you have finished painting all the glasses you can peel off the tracing paper from inside and check out your handiwork!

Step 5: Let Your Glasses Dry

The paint marker I bought was extremely quick drying but I still let the glasses sit for awhile (overnight would be best) and tried not to touch or bump them.

Even after the glasses are dry I would recommend only hand washing them to be safe. This paint might hold up in the dishwasher but I would rather not take the chance.
