Introduction: Rich Chocolate Gelato

I was wanting to make Gelato for a long time and finally last weekend I tried out this Rich Chocolate Gelato recipe adding instant coffee powder.I love to experiment with my own ideas and it was tasty. Most gelato recipes are done with eggs and cream. But I did not want to use eggs and rich creams. This is super easy to make to make if you have all the ingredients at home.

Step 1: Ingredients

4 Cups milk

1 1/2 Cups sugar

1/2 Teaspoon vanilla essence

1/4 Teaspoon instant cofee

5 oz Semi sweet dark chocolate

Pistachio

Chocolate chips -not in pic

Step 2: Dissolve Sugar

Warm the milk and sugar in a pan over low heat and stir until sugar dissolves, but don't allow to boil.It is important to dissolve the sugar completely by stirring over direct heat,Undissolved crystals give a grainy texture to frozen mixtures. Add vanilla essence

Step 3: Throw in the Yummy Chocolates

Remove pan from heat and stir in instant coffeee powder, add the chopped dark chocolate.Continue to stir until the chocolate has melted and mixture is smooth.Refer images 4,5,and 6.Once the chocolate melts the mixture becomes slightly thicker and creamy.

Step 4: Chill and Freez

Pour the mixture into a freezer tray and refrigerate for a some time as the mixture should be chilled always before freezing.Once the mixture is chilled freeze until it set around the edges.Transfer mixture to a large bowl and beat with electric beater until thick.

If you are using ice cream machine -

Pour the mixture into an icecream machine and churn for about 30 minutes or until the gelato is firm

Step 5: Add Choco Bits & Pistachio

I used a silicone tray and metal bowl to freez the gelato.Throw in some chopped Choco chips and pistachio into the silicone tray/ bowl and pour the rich creamy mixture and freeze.

Freeze hand made ice creams at the coldest setting of your freezer especially when freezing in trays.

To avoid crystallisation in gelatos beat the mixture at least twice at hourly intervals during the freezing process. The last image is the frozen Gelato.

Step 6: Done!

It did turn out yummy for the weekend dessert.
