I recently saw a recipe to stuff the center of apples with caramel which makes them much easier to eat!

I decided to make my own spin with adding crunchy and believe it or not tasty insects.

My favorite is the mealy worm which has a nutty taste.

Least favorite is grasshopper which tastes like the meadows.

For this recipe i chose June Bugs and Mealy worms which complement the caramel.

Entomophagy is the practice of eating insects.

The most commonly eaten insect groups are beetles, caterpillars, bees, wasps, ants, grasshoppers, locusts, crickets, cicadas, leaf and planthoppers, scale insects and true bugs, termites, dragonflies and flies.

Crickets have twice the protein as the same serving of beef and they are much lower in fat.

Step 1: Ingredients

Apples
Caramel Candy (individually wrapped)
Roasted Insects - http://www.thailandunique.com/
2 tablespoons water

Step 2: Melt the Caramel

unwrap caramel candies
place in pot with 2 tablespoons water
melt under low heat

Step 3: Cut Apples in Half

place a knife and cut thru the top of the apple to the bottom.

Step 4: Scoop Out Center of Apples

with a spoon carefully scoop out the seeds and center.
hallow out enough to keep consistent thickness throughout.
arrange in bowl to stabilze for next step.
