I recently got an e-bike, an Ariel Rider X-Class.

But the seat was a bit hard and didn't go the entire length of the bike.

Also I wanted it to have a retro leather look

I decided to try and make my own seat for as cheap as possible.

Supplies

bike

foam or paper and marker for template

plywood

nuts and bolts, 6 ....1/4th inch

foam padding

vinyl leather or other fabric

tools: saw, drill or router, sander, chisel, scissors, staple gun

Step 1: Template

use the foam board and marker to make a template of the bottom of your seat.

moving the marker up from the bottom helps and will give you an accurate placement for the holes.

transfer the template to plywood

using a saw you can cut out the shape

drill or route the holes

sand the edges and get it closer to the shape you want.

Put the bolt through the hole and use the marker to trace the outline.

using the chisel you can make a cavity for the bolt.

only go down as far as the thickness of the bolt head, so it is flush with the rest of the board.

once you have them all use superglue to hold the bolt in.

test the plywood base on the bike.

use the same template to cut out your foam

how much foam depends on your choice

Finally cover the seat with the vinyl or other fabric

I'm not an expert here (you may want to watch a youtube video or something on it)

I used one sheet with enough room to fold under the seat, no sewing or patterns involved.

unfortunately this means i will have some pleats (folds) but I am ok with it.

the gist of it is that you want to staple the fabric to the center of one side, then pull the fabric and work your way out to the edges.

cut away excess fabric

for the corners you may need to cut inward a little to help fold it in (like a present).

Now you're done and ready to ride! :)
