Want to make some tasty and easy to make pulled pork? Well, read on and learn how with minimal effort and maximum delicious!

Step 1: Ingredients

  • One onion, chopped
  • One pork shoulder (mine was ~4lbs)
  • 1/2 cup of chicken broth (optional)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Extra Sauces/Spices (optional)
    • Cayenne
    • Mustard
    • Sriracha
    • Soy Sauce
    • 2 tbsp honey
  • Cola (optional)
    • Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, etc.
  • 2-3 cups of BBQ sauce

Other Necessary Items:

  • Slow Cooker
  • Time to wait
  • Scissors/knife

Step 2: Chop Onion

Chop the onion and place it in the bottom of the slow cooker.

Step 3: Trim Excess Fat

Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder, then place it in the slow cooker.

Step 4: Make Broth (optional)

Pour a half cup of chicken broth or water into the slow cooker, over the chopped onion and pork shoulder.

You can also heat up a half cup of water and dissolve half a chicken bouillon cube into it, which is what I did.

Step 5: Season and Cook!

Add salt, pepper, and any spices now. You can also add soda for extra FLAVOR.

Seriously, add any spice or flavoring you want here (in moderate quantities). It'll taste great once everything is done cooking.

Some ideas:

  • Cayenne
  • Mustard
  • Sriracha
  • Soy Sauce
  • Rosemary

After spices have been added, sit tight and set the slowcooker on low.

Now, wait for 6-8 hours

After waiting for a bit, your pork should smell absolutely delicious. Resist the urge to eat it yet and use two forks to pull apart the meat (helce pulled pork). At this step, remove any bones still in the shoulder and dispose of properly.

Next, add the sauce.

Stir in your BBQ sauce, 1-2 cups (or more, I won't judge). After adding your BBQ sauce cook on low for a 1-3 more hours.

Step 6: Enjoy!

Now, your food should be ready! Eat up and enjoy!

It's delicious enough on its own, but feel free to add hamburger buns to make pulled pork sandwiches.

Tell me if you made this meal in the comments below, and what spices you decided to add.
