Step 2: Warm It Up
Set the deep fryer to 375'
Put the Butter in the water and start it to boil
Measure 4 1/4 cups of prefered baking mix into large mixing bowl and prepare for hot water transfer
Step 3: Mix It Up
Once the water is boiling take and pour it over the dry mix.
Stir with spoon until dough ball develops.
The dough ball will be hot
Step 4: Knead It Up
Spread a even layer of baking mix on your counter or cutting board to prevent the dough from sticking.
Be sure to get some baking mix on your hands as well
Once dough ball is cool enough to touch, grab it out of your bowl and set it on you surface.
Knead the dough about 10 times, folding it in half and pressing down each time.
The dough should look and feel very smooth (see picture below)
Mold the dough into a rectangle for cutting
Step 5: Set It Up
Cut the dough lengthwise in half, and then widthwise into 8 sections
Separate the sections and flatten them into circular shapes with your palm (be sure to wash you hands)
Scoop about 1/3-1/4 cup of beans into the center of a section
Top off with a sprinkling of cheese and hot sauce
Fold dough over beans, cheese, and sauce making a shell-like shape.
Pinch the edges down to seal the shell
Cut off excess dough and slit the top with a knife for even cooking
Step 6: Cook It Up
BE SURE NOT TO BURN YOURSELF ON HOT OIL (IT WILL HURT)
Insert your finished shell into the deep fryer and cook for about 3 minutes
After cooking, the shells should be a Brazilian tan
Carefully take them out, being sure not to burn yourself, strain off extra oil and serve!
Step 7: Finish It Up
Enjoy them.
The dish goes well with a taco salad or taco soup.
Has a very pleasant taste and a good comfort food.
