Introduction: Stars-Lamp Ikea Hack Constellations Glow in the Dark

How to fix a ikea paper lamp, with an original new paper cover.

You will need:

  • Ikea lamp
  • hot gun glue
  • paper crepe
  • hama - glow in the dark
  • constelation map

Step 1: Separate Old Paper From Lamp

If you have kids maybe your paper lamp looks like this.

Easily with your hands remove old paper and keep the two round metal pieces.

Step 2: Prepare Materials

You can choose any paper you like, not too dark, to let light pass throw it.

You can print at any size you prefer the star map, one constellation, a desing you like...

Step 3: Glueing Stars

Using the print as a template below you paper and start to glue glow-in-the-dark hama beads for every star point in the star map.

Step 4: Fit the Paper With the Metal Pieces

As my paper was a little bit shorter than the metal circunference, I have added an extra piece of paper to complete it.

With the dots of hama beads above of the paper (like when you glue them), glue the metal piece and roll out around the edge, leaving a short part to be fold around bar.

Do the same with the other round metal piece in the opposite edge.

The hama beads should be inside the lamp.

To finish put the paper into the lamp and fit the length, so there will be tension on the paper, and you can glue the long edge of the paper.

Fold the edges and glue them inside.

Step 5: Enyoi It!

When you turn off the light, glow-in-the-dark hama beads will show all the constellations stars.
