Introduction: T-Structables: Back-up Your Ipod With Out Any Programs!

For a long time, I was searching for a way to back up my ipod nano to my computer w/o installing any programs. So, after a very, very, very long time (5 minutes), I found the secret! In this T-Structable, I will show you how to do it!

Step 1: Plug It In, Plug It In!

The first step, is to enable your ipod for disk view mode if you have not done so already. If you haven't done it, do the following:

1. Plug in your iPod
2. Open iTunes
3. Click on your iPod icon on the left hand side view panel
4. Check "Enable Disk Use"

Your iPod is now disk use enabled!

Step 2: Show Me the Money!

Now with a disk enabled iPod, plug in your iPod and open "My Computer." You should see another drive icon with your iPod's name next to it. Open it. Now, your probably wondering where your music folder is. Well that's because it's hidden.

To show the hidden folder, go to Tools > Folder Options... Once the window opens, click the "View" tab. Next, find and select the
"Show hidden files and folders" option.

Step 3: Music on an IPod? No Way!

Now, you should see a new folder named "Ipod_Control". Open it. Say, what do you think's in the "Music" folder? I think it's the winning lotto ticket. Why don't we find out? WOW! It's.... more.. folders?

Each folder contains a few songs/videos that you've stored on your ipod. If you open up one of the folders, you'll notice something strange. See it? All the song names are gibberish! How exciting! Don't worry about it. Only the file name has changed. The song name is still fine. Don't believe me? See for yourself! Open up any song in WMP, iTunes, WinAmp, etc. and you'll see that the song name pops up!

Now that you know how to back up your iPod, you can get back to the more important things in life. Like riding your bike, playing in traffic, or even watch paint dry! See you later!
