Introduction: Tangy Green Ketchup

About: Paramedic. Hazmat. Fire. WMD. ON CALL FOR LIFE<3

This is a simple recipe, Green ketchup was made by Heinz back when I was in Elementary School I think and they took it away...then I saw a commercial for Burger King giving out green ketchup on St. Patricks day. I wanted to make this on my own.

Problem- I have red tomatoes and I dont want to go all around looking for green.

The ingredients should be ones you have around or very cheep at the store.

My recipe works with two big tomatoes. Wash and cut the vine off, the half them. Boil the tomatoes for 10 minutes and the skin will fall off. Seperate skin/flesh .

Step 1: The Flavoring

Wet ingredients

  • Red wine vinegar - 1/4 c
  • Worcestershire 3 tbl

Dry
  •   2tbl salt- this is what makes mine healthier than most
  •  Garlic powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Mustard seed -pinch  -The mustard seed is what makes the ketchup extra tangy and demonstrates an oxymoron

Combine everything in a saucepan again crushing tomatoes with a spoon.

Step 2: Color Change

To make the ketchup green add a few drops of green coloring. A few drops at a time until its green enough.

When you blend it together everything will be green dont worry about the red showing at this point.

Cook for about 5-10 minutes

Put everything in a food processor for 3 minutes

Step 3:

After cooled and mixed well. Add 1/8 c sugar. (Halfway fill 1/4c)

Stir with a spoon, sugar helps taste bettter.

Serve cold and it will thicken up not to the point of normal ketchup but it tastes exactly the same.

Store in a mason jar.
