The Incredible EVER-FLY GLIDER (toss It Speed Contest Entry)

This incredible glider can sit on your desk-top a fly forever. well, at least if you have a fan blowing on it. this paper airplane is connected by string to two poles for stabilization and when air from a fan moves across it, it's back end rises from the ground and looks as if its actually Flying!!!this instructable also tells you how to make the paper airplane that i used with the base but any airplane will work with it.

Step 1: Needs

the requirements list is very short and simple as is the tools list

requirements
1 sheet of paper
2 straws (preferably flexible)
1 base (any small heavy e.g. small tile, heat sink, piece of wood, sheet metal/plastic)
1 10 inch string

tools
scissors
hot glue gun
hot glue

Step 2: Step 1

take one of your straw and make a diagonal cut on the end that is not flexible. put the straws together and while using the first straws cut as a guide, cut the same cut into the second. take your hot glue gun and hot glue the two straws to your base about an inch apart and about 2-4 mm from the edge.

Step 3: Tethers

to make the tethers, poke a hole about 2-4 mm from the top of each straw using either a needle or scissors. take your string and measure off from the tip of one straw to the middle of the two leaving about an inch worth of room for tying the knot. cut the string where you measured to and cut another peice of string of equal length. push one piece of string through the hole in one straw and tie a not. put some hot glue on the knot and do the same for the other straw and string.

Step 4: Attaching the Plane

to attach the plane simply add a dab of hot glue to each side of the nose and connect the strings there.

Step 5: Turning It On

now for the fun part.
find a table of correct height for the fan if it is a standing fan other wise just hold the fan. line the plane and base to be slightly of center of the fan then, turn it on. if you have a multi-level power fan, turn it to medium. the glider should take off quickly and assume a fairly smooth flight path. if it does not, turn your base slightly until it does.

a suggestion i might add is that it is sometimes useful to hot glue the body of the paper airplane together so your wings dont come undone.

Step 6: The Tremble-wing Paper Airplane

this tells you how to make my tremble-wing paper airplane.

the tremble-wing starts out like any normal paper jet. the only differences are that when you fold the wings you first fold a small wing. then unfold that and refold a regular wing so that it has a wing with a fold in its middle.

the other differences are that you bend the nose up so it makes a front stabilizer. the second is that you push the back corner on the planes body up so that it makes a rear stabilizer.
