"MI MACHETE".DIY "MACHETE".

Templed by Sun and Rain and left as useless , it was waiting for someone who could back it to live  Blast Wood and make some Big Noise.
Aint a cool Intro…?
If you google "Machete" you´ll find a pic of an Old Badass Texican…that’s not the one that I´m going to talk about…I´m talking about that Tool that many of us have used since medieval times.
While  researching for this project I realized that Media show the Machete as an Instrument of Terror used by violent people, but don’t emphasize in the uses as Tool that many people gave it.
So as a tribute to this Noble Tool; I´ll show you how I made my own Machete for my wood working projects.



Forjado por la lluvia y el Sol y abandonado como inservible al lado de las vias del Tren, estaba esperando que alguien le devolviera la vida y asi poder hacer desastres y Ruido.

Si buscas machete en google encontraras a un veterano mexicano de muy malas Pulgas…de el no vamos a hablar Hoy…voy a hablar de esa herramienta tan útil que muchos hemos usado y otros se mueren por usar.
En el transcurso de la investigación para este proyecto me di cuenta que los medios muestran las atrocidades que mucha gente ha hecho con esta noble herramienta y no enfatizan en las utilidades que muchas culturas le han dado y le seguirán dando al Machete.
Así que decidí hacerle un tributo al instrumento que muchas manos empuñaron para luchar por la Libertad de nuestros pueblos y que nos permitieron poder ir a otros lejanos países lejos de nuestras raíces y así terminar fregando pisos y desempeñar Labores mal vistas para los ojos de Otros, (Afortunadamente no es mi caso)bueno ese no era el fin pero así resultaron las cosas…no es así….?.
He dicho…

Step 1: Lets Rock...A Darle Pues...

Stuff.

1 meter x 10 cms x 3mm Rusted Steel Sheet. Tempered by the weather Conditions.
3 mts paracord.
Piece of leather.
Leather needle if you dont have one use a clip.Aguja para cuero si no la tienes, usa un Clip.
Lamina de Acero Forjada y templada por las condiciones meteorológicas y ambientales.
Rounded File. Lima Redonda.
Drill.Taladro
Angle Grinder. Pulidora.
Buck Knife.Mikaela.. Navaja Patecabra.
Forge. Optional. Forja o Fragua. Opcional
C Clamp. Prensa en C.
Vise. Prensa.

Step 2: The Blade. La Hoja.

I found this rusted steel sheet near the railroad tracks. It was already tempered. I just drew the required shape on it and cut it with the angle grinder. Make sure to use goggles and leather gloves for protection. Make sure you cut slowly and easy...don´t get rushed.
Before you start to grind be sure that you are dressed to the occasion. Don't wear loose clothes that could get trapped in your own grinder as that will scare the hell out of you. 
Tightly secure the sheet with a C clamp. Start at one side and partially grind in. Subsequently grind in at the other side; the remaining pieces will fall off. After you make the shape just make a line hole in the handle to wrap the Paracord, I made it like this because it is easier."


Dibujo la forma que le quiero dar de aproximadamente 50 cms x 10 y comienzo a cortarla con la pulidora, ten a mano un disco de repuesto, y utiliza mascara para pulir Guantes, y protectores de oídos.No sin antes cargar tu ipod o mp3 con buena música.( Metal por supuesto: Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple,Megadeath, Motorhead) Asegura la lamina a un soporte firmemente con una prensa en C.
Este procedimiento es de mucho cuidado pues la pulidora puede derrapar o quedar trabada.
¡OJO¡ Cuando trabajes con pulidoras recuerda utilizar ropa adecuada y asegúrate de apuntar tu camisa o chaqueta, créeme no querrás que la pulidora quede enredada en tu ropa, duele como el carajo…y el susto es pa morirse…así que es mejor despacio y con buena letra, como dice mi abuelo.
Además sitúa el cable de poder de la pulidora detrás tuyo a tu espalda.

Step 3: Sharpening.

When the Blade is cutted begin to sharp the edge of the Machete.
Finnally sahrp all the blade with riverstones of diferent Grains.Finnally and as an option Temper the Machete in the Forge or with a Propane Torch.
When is red cherry submerge it in Cold Rain Water.

Procura no traspasar toda la lamina, pule por un lado y luego por el otro, y así consecutivamente, eventualmente la lamina restante caerá por si sola. Tomate tu tiempo .
Luego de 3 horas de relajado trabajo tengo la forma básica para poder darle filo con la pulidora suave y gentilmente. Finalmente hago una rendija en la parte donde ira alojada la manija y con la lima circular la perfecciono.
Para darle filo primero lo hago con pulidora y después, utilizo piedras de rio para darle una textura fina, si quieres templar el Machete utilizamos la forja o un soplete de butano, yo prefiero a la vieja usanza pero en esta caso como la lamina esta tan templada por el sol y la lluvia omito ese paso.

Step 4: Paracord Time.

I decided make the handle in paracord cause is easier and give rough touch.I´m not a paracord expert so i cant tell you how I wave ..just begin to weave and I think that  become a Nice handle.

Por Facilidad decidi hacer la manija de el machete en paracord, no soy un experto en tejer ,aún, asi que empece a tejer alrededor y a travez de el agujero lineal. el paracord y pienso que resulto un buen metodo.

Step 5: The Sheat.La Funda.

I found some piece of leather trace the shape of the machete on it and became to cut , it was the first machete task.
When the shape was ready pinch a holes with a tiny file, and drill a small holes to weave with a leather cord from the remaing pieces of leather.No needle...No problemo...Just madke one with a clip.Then made the Mods.

Step 6: Right On....Chop Time....!!!!

CAMPING TIME....YEEEEEEEHHHHAAAA.....!!!!!
Once it was finished I couldnt wait to test in the field.


Usos.
Solo me limitare a mostrarles para que lo uso personalmente.
Cortar madera…Dohhh.
Cortar Carne.
Cortar vegetales.
Tallar artesanías.
Destapar cerveza.
Abrir Monte..

Ok...Now that i´finished I have to give thanks to all Knife Makers to submit all that valious info...I know its not the best leatherwork neither bladesmithing work but it was just the basics ,if somene get offended I apologize.

Bien una vez explicado esto espero haber aclarado el verdadero significado del vocablo machete.
Ahora si quieren disfruten la película de Rodríguez, personalmente me parece ridículamente Graciosa, no la he visto ni pienso hacerlo. Odio los clichés de Hollywood.
