Introduction: The "Upside Down Arrow Tip Fighter" Paper Airplane

I am eight years old and my mom let me use her Instructables to show you how to make a new airplane I designed. It's different because you throw it upside down. You will need a piece of printer paper (8 1/2 x 11). We use scrap paper so you may see some printing on the page. You will also need a ruler and a couple of hands.

Step 1: Paper Orientation (that's My Mom's Word)

For this airplane you fold the short side of the paper. Fold it in half then unfold it.

Step 2: Second Folds

Fold down one top corner and then the other, just like a regular paper airplane. My pictures will look upside down to you.

Step 3: Third Fold

Fold the same corners again...just like a regular paper airplane. You should have "arrow" points off the back end. Sorry, this picture is blurry. My mom must have moved the camera.

Step 4: Fourth Fold

Fold the plane in half along the first fold. Now take your ruler and measure approximately (another mom word) 3 3/4 inches from the tip of the nose up the top line as shown. Then fold from that spot all the way down to the bottom rear of the plane, as shown. You should have a wide wing. Repeat on the other side or you can eyeball (mom word) it.

Step 5: Fifth Fold

This plane has TWO wing folds. You need to lay the plane folded and flat make a line using your ruler from the beginning of the first wing fold to the middle of the arrow tip at the rear. Make your fold along this line. Repeat for other wing.

Step 6: Making It FLY!

It took us a while to figure it out but a soft even throw seems to work best for a glide. Try to throw it with the tip/nose up. You can bend the arrow tips up or down for different tricks. Remember...THIS IS AN UPSIDE DOWN PLANE so fly it upside down. My mom made me make a bunch of these to be sure they worked. I hope they work for you too!
