This is a novelty burger that noone seems to have made yet.

It combines the success formula of turkey with satay and adds some tropical and savory garnish.

Total preparation time: 15 minutes

Supplies

For one burger:

  • 1 Turkey Burger (replace with chicken burger as an alternative)
  • 3 tbsp Satay sauce
  • 40g Bean sprouts
  • 1 Pineapple slice
  • 1 Pickle
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Burger bun
  • Olive oil

For home made satay sauce:

  • 6 tbsp peanut butter
  • 200mL milk
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes

Step 1: Fry That Burger

In a large skillet, fry your burgers on high heat for four minutes on one side.

Flip the burger and fry for another four minutes.

Now set the heat to (very) low and add the parmesan cheese on top of the burger so it melts into it.

Add the bean sprouts into the pan.

Put a pineapple slice on the burger so it can preheat. Also slice one pickle per burger and put the slices on top.

Step 2: Satay Sauce

This step needs to happen in conjunction with Step 1.

For a homemade satay sauce, pour the milk into a small pan.

Turn off the heat as soon as it starts boiling.

Then add the peanut butter, soy sauce, and chili flakes.

Stir and bring to a light boil until the sauce has the consistency of a thick pasta sauce.

For added sweetness, add 1 tsp of honey.

Alternatively, you can use premade satay sauce from the grocery store.

Step 3: Build Your Burger

Slice the burger buns neatly in two and apply satay sauce on both open sides.

Apply a light baste on the top side (this is mostly meant to make it stick) and put the rest on the bottom.

Now add, from bottom to top:

  • Pickle slices
  • Bean sprouts
  • Turkey burger
  • Pineapple slice

Serve with French fries or potato wedges.
