Introduction: USB Flash Drive in IPod Shuffle

About: I like to build things for one reason only. To have fun. Creating for me is a way to let my imagination loose and explore. If you like the things I have created, subscribe.

In many places (mostly schools), iPods are not allowed (or at least you can't use them). But you can have a flash drive. So me, being the rebellious type I am, decided to trick them. I wanted it to look like I had an iPod, but in reality it was a flash drive. So, here's how I did it and how you can do it too.

Step 1: Materials

Materials:
- Ipod Shuffle (1st generation)
- Flash Drive
- Styrofoam

Tools:
- Glue
- Utility Knife
- Kitchen Knife
- Small Paintbrush

Step 2: Open Up Your Electronics (iPod and Flash Drive)

First, you have to open up your iPod and flashdrive. The flashdrive is the easier of the two, so I'll start with that.

To open up the flash drive, pry your nail into the seam where the casing meets. The case should pop right off.

To open up your iPod shuffle, grab a utility knife. First, though, pry off the bar on the back that covers the green. Then, take off the cap, and then run your utility knife on the seam of the bottom of the iPod. Do this a bunch of times until it pops out. Then, grab a small paintbrush and push that through the headphone hole so the iPod innards come out. Carefully pull out the iPod electronics until you are left with just the case. There are a bunch of great videos on how to do this.

Step 3: Cut a Piece of Styrofoam

Grab a small piece of Styrofoam. Whittle it down to a little smaller than your iPod, so that it fits inside snugly. Cut that in half. Put that in the iPod and push it to the back of the case.

Step 4: Glue

Position the flash drive in the middle of the iPod case. Then, put a bunch of glue in it to hold it in place. Wipe off the excess. I used Elmer's Glue, but you can use a different type of glue.

Step 5: Finish and Be Rebellious!

Once it's dry, you are done! Use it as a flash drive and as a fake iPod. You can even put headphones in it to complete the effect!
