Introduction: Way-Too-Easy Caramel for Dipping

Ever wanted to dip your apples or pretzels in a batch of ooey gooey Caramel? This is the BEST way I've found. What's More is it's all natural! NO HFCS, No Preservatives, No Artificial Colors... YAY! So let's get started, shall we?

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You will need:

*1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT EVAPORATED)
*1 Large Pan. The pan must allow the water to cover the can with out boiling over at a hard boil.
*1 Egg Timer/Alarm/Reminder System (Something so you don't forget about it)
*1 Washcloth or Small Towel
*A Stove top/Range
*Tongs (The longer the better)
*Can Opener
*3 Hours of spare time :)

Step 2: Get Prepped

*Remove label from can, if there is one.

*Place washcloth in the bottom of the pan.

*Put the Can of milk on top of the washcloth. (DO NOT OPEN THE CAN)

*Fill pan with water at least 1 inch above the top of the can.

*Set Pan on a Burner, after doing the above steps.

Step 3: BOIL

1. Turn on your burner to the highest setting and boil the water, washcloth, and milk. Turn on the Range Hood Vent Fan.

2. As soon as the water is boiling, set your timer for 15 minutes.

3. Go do something, NOT TOO FAR AWAY. If you stand there and watch it it'll feel like forever. If you get to far away you may not know if your smoke detector is going off.

4. After you timer goes off, check your water level.

4a. If its below the halfway point on the can, reduce your heat, add HOT water to original water level, repeat steps 2-3.
4b. If it's still above the can or only slightly below the top of the can, add HOT water to the original water level, set your timer for 30 min, then repeat steps 2-4 with your new 30 Min time limit.

Step 4: After 3 Hours

After 3 Hours of repeating the previous step.

Move the pan to an unused, switched off, Burner. (you may need hot pads)

Using the tongs... Set your can of, now, caramel to the side and let cool. Use a hot pad or wet newspaper to protect counter tops.

(Optional Step: After 15-20 min of counter top cooling, place in refrigerator [NOT FREEZER], )

After about 1-2 hours of refrigerated cooling, or 2-4 hours of counter top cooling you may open the can CAREFULLY. and scoop out into small reusable container.

Cover and Refrigerate. (Carmel will not usually harden, but if it does heat in microwave for 15-30 seconds to soften.)

Step 5: Enjoy

Bust out some apples, pretzels, or whatever you want to dip and taste the carmely goodness!

Rinse and RECYCLE your steel can :)
