Introduction: Whittle Yourself an O-Ring Flashlight Mount

Sometimes, you just gotta put on your Appalachian grandpappy overalls and get to whittlin' your way out of a problem. If you have ever whittled, you know that it is a painstaking endeavor that requires creativity, patience, a sharp knife, and a steady hand. I have the first three qualities, but alas, as you can see, not the last. That is why typing is a godsend for me.

Conceivably, this entire project could be completed with just the tools on the pictured Leatherman. However, since I was not on the back porch of a broken down shack deep in the mountains of West Virginia trying to devise some way to sabotage ol' man Peabody's coal rig before he blows up my mountain top, I opted for a rat tail file and a hacksaw where it made sense.

Added bonus: pine smells really good when you're cutting at it with a sharp knife.
