World-in-an-egg: Make a Fabergé-style Hen Egg

Hello.
Since a long time I want to post my own Instructable, but didn't know what to post. Until a few days ago I saw the Faberge-Style egg contest post, and decided to post my own.
All you need is a hen egg, some tools, mom's cheap jewelry and a lot of patience.
I hope you like it.

Step 1: What You Need

Tools

• Clamp.
• Cutting Plier.
• Rotary Tool.
• Soldering Iron.
• Brushes.
• Safety Goggles.
• Safety Mask (for egg dust).
• A Sharp Knife.

Materials

• Eggs. At least two.
• Oil Enamel.
• Table Tennis ball.
• Sewing needle.
• Water soluble color pencils.
• Steel Wire.
• Some beads.
• Two bead caps.
• Shiny stuff.
• Acrylic gold paint.
• Self-adhesive metallic paper.
• A piece of paper.

Step 2: Preparing the Egg

Choosing the right egg

To start working, we need an empty clean egg. So run to your kitchen and steal some eggs. Choose the biggest ones, remember we'll put a table tennis ball inside them.

Cleaning the egg

Make two small holes at top and bottom with the knife and blow hard, but carefully through one hole. Don't throw the inside! It could be a Great omelet!
When the egg is empty, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse and blow again to take water out. Don't worry if it's still wet, because we are going to open it and dry it again.

Now our egg is ready to start working!

Step 3: Let's Do It!

Marking the egg

Here comes the faith time. So trust yourself and mark the widest part of the egg, like an equator line. The holes at top and bottom will help you to wisely find the right point. May the Forbes be with you.

Cutting the egg

Once you've marked the equator, use your dremel skills to cut along the line with a Dremel Cut-off Wheel.

Bottom (the longest half)

The best way to hide imperfections at the edge of the eggshell is by adding some kind of frieze. I decorated it with a gold chain. Then make two little cuts to put the globe axis (needle) and paint the edge of the eggshell with acrylic gold paint. I also added eight gold chains between the bottom of the egg and the edge of the eggshell.

Top (the widest half)

First, paint it with enamel and then make a decorative pattern with gold paint.
Before painting the inside, cover the hole with small pieces of paper and glue. You can paint it with the same pattern as the outside or with only one color. I used acrylic gold paint....... again.
In order for the lid to tighten up, add a strip of self-adhesive metallic paper. If you don't want to spend money in a whole piece of metallic paper, can ask for a sample at a paper store.

Step 4: The Top Handle

Don't tell your mama

For the top handle you will need an earring or a pendant. I used a cheap earring from my mother.
It's not much brilliant so I painted it with acrylic gold paint. You'll also need a bead cap to make the joint between the earring or pendant and the top half of the egg.
When you had finished, stick the handle to the top half of the egg.
That's it.

Step 5: Small Genesis

Preparing the ball

First, note that the ball has a joint line, that line will be the equator. Take this into account to mark the poles. Once you have marked the poles, pass the needle through them as seen on the first image of this step.
Then, rub the whole surface of the ball with the rotary tool and a round sandpaper. After sanding you still should see the joint line of the ball. So mark the equator with a pencil.
It's so hard to pass the needle exactly through the poles of the ball, actually it's almost impossible, note it by holding both ends of the needle between your fingers. The ball should spin into a particular position, but don't worry, you can set that point as a default position to show every time you open the egg.
Now, mark the Prime Meridian and other three meridians at 90 degrees E, 90 degrees W and 180 degrees.

Fine Cartography

Something helpful is making marks each 10 degrees along the meridians and equator. Then will be easier to draw the landmasses. Take your time at this point because the globe is the great surprise inside the egg. It must be awesome, remember you must please Czar.
Now color the globe with water soluble color pencils, then moisten it with a brush.
If you want, you can make a little Compass Rose to stick at Pacific Ocean.

Step 6: The Pedestal

Let's make our egg stand

You'll need a cylinder. It could be a lid from a gift box, a can, a PVC pipe, etc.
Mark the center and pierce it with a needle and paint it.
Then make the egg holder. I made it with wire and beads, but feel free of using other materials as wood, putty, plastic, kryptonite, etc.

Then put all together and take the egg to Czar.
