Introduction: Wrench for Car Counter

This is a wrench for the cap on the car counter at Hillbrook School. The Technical Director at the school, Mr. Selak, asked me to make something to take off the cap on the car counter. The cap is hard to take off and if you do get it off, it hurts your hand. I tried to make something that fixed this problem. This wrench requires the application, Corel Draw, as well as a laser cutter.

Step 1: Changing Size

Go into the top left of the screen and change the size to 11x11.

Step 2: Making the Wrench (Polygon 1)

Start by using the polygon tool to make two 16-sided polygons (image 1-4). One of them will be smaller than the other. Draw a straight line through the polygon to split it in half using the 2 point line tool (image 5). Click on the crop icon and select "virtual segment delete" and delete the right side of the polygon, and the line (image 6-7).

Step 3: Making the Wrench (Polygon 2)

Click on the pick tool and select the polygon. Use ctrl-c to copy the half-polygon.

Step 4: Changing the Polygon Size

Make sure the size of the polygons are exactly as shown the pictures. Image 1 is the bigger polygon and the smaller one is shown in image 2.

Step 5: Connecting Lines

Use the 2-point connector to connect the two sides of the bigger half-polygon (image 1-2). Then use the virtual segment delete to delete the line in between the two sides of the polygons (image 3). After you are done it should look like image 4.

Step 6: Making Handle

Use the 2 point line tool to make a handle (Image 1-3). Then use the Virtual Segment Delete to delete the line that separates the handle to the wrench.

Step 7: Keyhole

Use the ellipse tool to make a hole where you could fit a key ring.

Step 8: Finalizing

Click control-p to open the print window. Then click preferences and go into advanced. Click "wood" and then click load (image 1). Go back into general and change the size to 11x11 (image 2-3). Look unde "job type" and select "Vector". Hit okay and then apply (image 4-5).

Step 9: Printing

Turn on the air compressor and the filter (image 1-2). Then, turn on the laser cutter (image 3). Find a piece of wood that is or bigger than 11x11 and put it in the laser cutter (image 4). Go back to the computer and click print (image 5). Make sure it says the name of your project on the display section, if it is there, hit go (image 6). Then, it should make the wrench!
