Introduction: Yarn Spools From Rubber Floor Mats

About: I'm a refugee from Los Angeles, living in backwoods Puerto Rico for about 35 years now and loving it. I built my own home from discarded nylon fishnet and cement.

The last time I looked in the box of yarn skeins, it was a tangled mess of yarn. I think knitters battle this chaos by first rolling the skeins of yarn into balls. I thought to make spools out of the scrap floor mat material I have, and roll the yarn onto them. I don't know how this compares to ball rolling, but it works fine.

I always make a few short snips with the tip of a pair of scissors (the black ink lines) in the edges of the rubber. The resulting slit works great for holding loose ends of yarn. No loose ends; no chaos in the yarn box.
