Introduction: Yarn Wrapped Letters

About: Welcome to Twinology! Here we post awesome DIYs to make life easy and creative. Happy Crafting!

This really cute, easy DIY takes 20 minutes and adds some color to your wall or locker! It is also a great way to reuse extra poster board from your projects. You do not need to know any technique to create this, because you are basically wrapping yarn around an oak tag or cardboard letter. Hang it up wherever you like or create it as one fabulous birthday present!

Step 1: Materials

All you need for this project is:

- Yarn: you could use any colors, but try not to make it more than five (even one color is pretty)
- Cardboard or Oaktag/Poster board
- Letter Stencils (optional, I didn't use it)
- A permanent marker, pen or pencil

Step 2: Drawing the Letter

With a writing utensil, draw (or trace) the letter you want. If you make a mistake, just draw over it because it will get covered with the yarn anyway. As you see, I made a mistake also! Then cut it out with your scissors.

Step 3: Yarn Wrapping

Before you start, plan in your mind how you want it to look. For the S, I did a color block, but you could also do zigzag like my letter C, or do random. For the color block, wrap your first color until it is about 3-5 inches long and then cut it off. Weave in the ends. With your second color, repeat. You could make any pattern you want (ex. Blue, purple, pink) until you reach the end of the letter.

Step 4: Finishing

After you are done, there might be some spots that are white that you missed. Rewrap over those spots if desired. You are finally done!! Make some for friends and family to bring out some color!!
