Introduction: Zombie Preparedness Kit

We help to run a monthly Zombie themed night at a local nightclub and each month we try and add another prop to help with the atmosphere. It was inspired by this

I wanted something a little bigger, better and designed to fit well into a dimly lit nightclub. Here is the finished result !

Step 1: Assemble Parts

Materials:

- Toy shotgun from local market
- 3 Candles (I had white already but using red would make it easier)
- Childs Cricket Bat from local toy shop
- Zombie Survival Guide http://www.randomhouse.com/crown/zombiesurvivalguide/ (Warning contains annoying sounds)
- Printable sticker paper
- Cable ties
- Backing paper
- Spray adhesive
- Red fairy lights
- Various Nails and Screws
- Black Spraypaint (hardwaring kind)
- Red Paint (if you don't have red candles)
- Scrap plywood

Tools:

- Saws
- Drill + bits
- Sandpaper
- Hammer

Step 2: Prepare and Cut Wood

Arrange the props on the wood and work out how big the box needs to be, don't forget to measure the height that you need to house all of the props well.

Cut wood to measurements and sand down edges

I did a practice run at this point and layed everything out again to make sure it will all fit. and that the box will not look too big/small around the props.

Step 3: Fix Sides to the Base

Use screws to attach side pieces to the base

Add nails to give a little extra strength all the way along each side.

Any scruffy corners will be covered up by the front frame so it doesn't have to look perfect at this point

Step 4: Spraypaint

Spray sides and base inside and out with black spraypaint

Step 5: Prepare and Paint Candles

Using a sharp blade trim the pointed end of the candles off (CAREFUL) to make them look like sticks of dynamite.

If using white candles then you will need to hang them up and paint them as shown.

Step 6: Measure and Cut Frame

The Frame was constructed from one piece of wood to make sure it was perfectly joined, I thought it was worth the extra time rather than, making it out of 4 seperate pieces of wood.

It was measured to overhang the box on all sides to cover up any messy bits and to allow some space around the outside of the box for hiding the wire from the fairy lights.

Drill starting holes NEAR the corner of the wood to help get the saw through, repeat with each corner.

Step 7: Spray Paint Frame

Spray the Frame to match the box.

Step 8: Finishing Off

Drill holes in the sides of the box just large enough to fit the fairy lights through.
I left some of the bulbs outside of the box, to give it a halo effect around the outside too.

Attach backing paper to the back of the box with spray adhesive

Paint Props (spray gun black and paint blood onto the bat)

Mount props by drilling holes slightly behind each prop and securing with cable ties

Cut Perspex to size and glue to the back of the frame.
Once dry, screw the fram and perspex together onto the box

Print out 'IN CASE OF ZOMBIES STICKER' AND STICK IT ONTO THE BOX

Mount it on a wall and find a Zombie to pose!
