8x8x8 RGB led cube build, requesting assistance so I can make it properly. Can anybody give advice?

I just purchased 600 common anode RGB led's and I want to make a 8x8x8 led cube based off this video and channel.

I was wondering if everyone/anyone could help explain how it works to me (for understanding and troubleshooting), Help me simplify the wiring design. (Maybe custom pcb's? I've never made them before however). I was going to use the 777 from here
And help me get something for a code that I can understand?

I want to integrate my Arduino uno. Yet I'm not sure how or how to write code for it. I've tried a few times to learn but it seems to be a very hard task.

Lastly, I want to integrate sound visualization into my cube, maybe as a separate device I can plug into it? run off my pc? I want to make it do very complex light shows etc. I feel like this is a lot to ask but I also feel that this would be a fun idea to play with.

I now have an instructable and PC Board that runs Nick Schulze's and Kevin Darrah's code (modified slightly)

I did take a look and listen at Kevin Darrah and his circuit description which is based on what I like to call a double latched shift register which he Kevin does not use in the best part of, the hc595 Shift Register.

Kevin turns off the output when squirting the LED data into the hc595 then he delays before turning on the output again for a step in the display motion.

I have used this SR and simply strobed the RCK_pin12 ( he calls Latch ) when shifting was completed. No need for any delay in switching all of the LED output data at one instance step.

Just make sure there are enough film and electrolytic capacitors at the power junctions feeding whatever LED grouping arrangement you decide to use.

BTW I did a study on minimizing the switching devices before the LED uP era and found the prime multipliers of the cathode count ( 8x8x8x3 in this cube ) would result the smallest switching nodes for then neon lamps.

Now days the powers of two make more sense when combined in software.

Thanks for your replies and research in my project. I was wondering if you could go further into detail? on both of your replies? I want to be able to make the cube very fast and do whatever I want it to do with ease basically. And I want to do it with the best circuit possible, to make that easier. I was thinking maybe I should research the components he used to maybe get a better Idea?
I want to understand how it works which is why I want further explanations. Thank you again for the help.

So .... you and I live in the same town..

In review I only see someone who would like to be a programmer to produce the LED pattens in his minds eye and hardware is another issue.

Here is a link to my favorite uP a stamp running a 5x7 RGB brick which allows basic text compiled programs for most applications and debugging I/O but when speed is needed the basic can be quickly converted to machine code which runs 50 times faster.

The circuit uses 15 output lines to sink current from five RGB columns selected from seven rows powered individually by a single clock output driving the 017 IC sequential high lines.

An ingenious reset can be forced by simply holding the line high for a synchronizing reset of the brick color image intended for display.

If I were to make an 8x8x8 LED cube, I would assign a single stamp for each 8x8 layer and place a ninth commander stamp or PC to preload and call up the display.

I asked a few things that i would think wouldnt be too hard to explain. Its a project Ive wanted to do for sometime I just need help getting through it thats all.

In all honesty you're asking too many questions you need to be able to answer yourself, and if you can't, this project is going to be immensely hard to do.

Believe me I have, I have before and after i posted this question. Ive looked into everything I can find about led cubes and visualization. So that isnt much of a help :/
