Analogue Gauge Readout For PC Audio

How can I use 2 of the "Cracker Box Amp" circuits to drive standard analogue gauges from the audio out on my computer.  I will use 2 gauges, one for left channel and one for right. I want the gauge to show the amplitude.

If I just wire up a gauge to a channel on the audio out then the needle will simply move as if it were a speaker. As I said before, I want the gauge to show the amplitude.

.  The needle will be indicating amplitude. For audio, you may want to use a VU meter.

A VU meter is what I was looking for, (analogue).

Can you point me to a good schematic or instructable?
.  You should post that as a top-level comment so it can be selected as Best Answer.
I didn't want to steal it away from your better answer.
.  LOL   OK, but you denied the Asker the option of picking your answer. Shame on you! :)
