Can I use an old laptop screen for a computor monitor or TV?

I have an old laptop screen and I was wondering if I could reuse it for anything.

Yes... but the developmental boards that you need to do so cost about $200 more than a new LCD monitor... They are marketed to LCD repair-people, who will buy one and test a hundred LCD screens with them. Not us, who want one to make one screen... Basically, what you need is a 20 or 24 pin LCD driver board. This is because the LCD itself takes a digital signal from this driver board. The driver board gets this digital signal from the analog VGA signal fed into it. In the laptop, this is done automatically in the motherboard, so there is no discrete component/board you can pull of of an old "mostly broken" laptop. The other bad news is that it seems that nobody makes them anymore.

If you are of the tinkering type, as I assume pretty much all of us are here, I would recommend looking into the link below for a driver/power kit, direct from japan...

It translates from japanese to english, and is close enough to get the idea of what is going on. I'd love to hear your results!
