Can a hard drive motor be used to generate electricty?

I have built a small Lenz type VAWT and wanted to used a hard drive motor I had laying around since it has great bearings and a the disc provide a great way to mount the air foils.  I believe it would generate 3 phase power but I am not sure how to wire it.  three of the six wires have continuity - are there three specific coils?  I have no information on the motor itself.  Would the motor have to spin at high speeds to really generate anything?

Well there is this "windbelt" that you can make with the hard drive...
It'll generate small amounts of power, maybe enough to light a couple of LEDs
Yes, it would have to spin at VERY high speeds to generate anything.

Yes as can any permanent magnet motor.
