Can a normal house usage power connector or wall plug (that normally supplies 230 v) be wired to a battery like a deep cycle battery?

What size deep cycle battery would be advisable?

Yes any you can wire a wall outlet to any battery you want as long as it's been removed from the wall and mains power. Why do you want to use a wall outlet on a battery anyway?

Would it be advisable to place a transformer before the "connections"?

This is to be used as a temp power back up IF and WHEN required
You don't want to be connecting any battery to mains power unless it's through a charging unit. If your trying to charge some deep cycle batteries then get a charger for them. TO use them for a backup power supply you'll need an inverter to convert the 12VDC from the batteries to the 230VAC you need for your house hold items.

I think you need to read up some more on how to build a battery backup. There is a lot more to it than having some batteries and trying to connect them to what you want to power.

House power is AC , the battery is DC. If the breakers don't pop immediately, which is probably what would happen first, the battery will be short circuited , get extremely hot and then explode from the escaping hydrogen gas. This will throw hot melted plastic and a spray of hot acid in all directions. Sound like fun?
NO. DO NOT CONNECT MAINS POWER TO THE BATTERY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Do this and you will kill someone.
