Can a thermocouple be used to generate voltage for the purpose of mobile charging?

since a thermocouple produces voltage when it is subjected to the two different temperatures ( hot & cold). Can this temp. difference be used to charge mobile phones in an automobile (like two wheeler).

thermocouples can - if you connect enough of them in series peltier plates (like from usb cooler etc) are in fact big array of high efficiency thermocouples connected in series. maybe you can just connect your phone to one and apply temperatures

. No. T/Cs only put out mV and next to no current. See Seebeck Effect for more info. Thermoelectricity has some good info on Peltier junctions and other devices that might fit your needs. A thermopile is as close as you're going to get, using T/Cs.
