Can i get picaxes to communicate over cheap FM transmitters?

Is there any specific reason why you need FM? It's relatively trivial to get commumication by using matched pairs of AM transmitter/recievers. AM-RT4-433/AM-HRR3-433, for example is a simple solution. Either paired with encoder chips or not, whatever signal they get given gets sent and recieved.
