It's a very early model of the tricorder. This version included an early stun gun that eventually became the phaser. But actually it is a barcode reader used for inventory used in warehouse and grocery stores.

my sincere apologies. I did not mean to imply that YOU took it, only that that is how they generally go missing.

Apologie accepted and thank you for that. No hard feelings here. I just got it in a truck load of junk and I never seen one of these before and I just wanted to find out what it is and what I can do with it. If there is someone out there that can use it for what it is made foe they are welcome to it. no charge. If not I would like to find some I can make out of it because I cannot use it for what it is made for and it looks like it has never been used at all, never even been charged up. Thanks

It's a scanner (probably bar code) used in inventory tracking and delivery.
And why does he have it?
I dunno. Fell off a truck??
Ahh well, I guess as long as it's used for something epic.

I would like to very quietly suggest that it goes back to the shop it was nicked from, as it only works there and nowhere else, so no use to you and very expensive to replace for them?

I would like to very loudly announce that this is not stolen in any way, shape of form. I put an ad on a web site that I'm am looking for broken computer or electronic parts and I got a reply from a business that was shutting down and got a truck load of everything from telephones to PCs,TV's and printers and this scanner was in that pile. When I went through all the boxes I found it in there and that is why I put it on this site to find out what it is. I AM NOT A THEIF!!!!!!!!!! THAT WOULD BE KIND OF STUPID TO STEEL SOMETHING AND THEN PUT IT ON THE INTERNET WHERE THE WHOLE WORLD CAN SEE IT. I would not know where to begin to find out where it came from. So for Kryptonite and everyone else out there I DO NOT STEEL and I can't stand a thief.

I have more info on the scanner. It is a "Trovan" grip computer GR -100...I do have the charger with it but I have never charged it up. I would like to know what I can do with it. Is there anything I can make out of it or any ideas would be great. The pics were taken with my cell phone so sorry about the quality. Thanks for all your help

Can you look at it again - there should be some writing on it such as manufacturer, model number, what's printed on the blue keys, what sort of scanning system can you see, what data-ports etc? L

I could be wrong, it's hard to see, but it looks a bit like a barcode scanner like one would use in a warehouse or something. What do those blue buttons say and do you have any way of turning it on?
