Can't seem to find the correct leather?

Hello! This is my first project with anything leather related so I'm finding it difficult to find suitable leather. I've tried searching chrome tanned leather and looked for the recommended weight but I'm a little lost - I tried the link above for the Latigo leather but the page couldn't be found.
Is there any chance you could recommend a website or offer any advice on where to look/what to look for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! :) also I live in the U.K. if that makes a difference?

I know it can be a bit frustrating looking for leather, especially online. Is there anywhere you can go in person? What you want for the first projects is something stiff enough to hold it's structure with only 1 layer of leather. Something like this latigo (https://www.tandyleather.eu/en/product/latigo-side...) in the 5-7 oz thickness from Tandy is a good choice or this meza double shoulder (https://www.tandyleather.eu/en/product/meza-double...) though this might be a bit too thick. These colored veg tanned leathers will also work well I think. They are pre-dyed so you won't have to color them, but you should add a finish to them to protect the leather from water which you can get here: http://www.artisanleather.co.uk/leather-surface-fi... or here: https://www.tandyleather.eu/en/category/leather-fi...

I hope that helps, I'm sorry it can be a bit confusing.

Well, it totally depends on what you are looking to do with the leather ... for the projects in this class it looks like a typical "garment leather" would be a good choice. They are normally really thin, between 1 and 3oz. (Leather thickness is measured in the US in Ounces). 5 oz is what is used for belts and holsters. 7 to 10 oz for lineman or weight lifting belts, the really thick stuff (10 oz and up) is used in saddles, shields, armor, etc.

Keep in mind that the above is just a general guideline and varies from leather crafter to leather crafter, based on what they like and how they put things together.

Latigo is quite expensive, one of the most expensive leathers. You can get 5 oz chrome tanned leather much cheaper and in quite a few more colors (pretty much anything under the sun, if you are willing to look).

Look at Tandyleather.com , Leatherworker.net , or even https://www.leatherunltd.com/ .
