What is the cheapest arduino, pic board or micro controller.
Actually a Leonardo is the cheapest Arduino board which is handy.

Thanks for the help guys really helped.
The output of a N64 won't go to a USB cable without electronics in the middle.

What should I use?
What do you want to do with it ?

You'd need an arduino, or a PIC to make the interface to USB. There's code out there that can do what you want. An Arduino Leonardo has a lot of the clever bits of USB-ery done for you.

N64 controllers speak over the wires in a protocol but it definitely isn't universal serial bus.

@author Look it up, you can easily connect through a microcontroller (pic, arduino, etc) and the arduino will translate.

What, You just kind of soldered the wires together?
