Cordless Dremel info?

I just got a cordless dremel for my birthday. It's a 10.8v cordless and I was wondering if it holds it's charge well. I might want to take it back and get a corded one if it doesn't. I had a cordless drill and it lost it's charge all the time and wasn't that powerful, it stunk, that was a while ago though and the newer generation of cordless tools might be better. Any personal experience would be helpful.

I tend to dismiss the cordless dremels...Not sure about the more recent "entries", but the one I got several years back was very disappointing with regards to battery charge. Have you done a serach on the net for "<model number> battery problems, or <model number> problems? Thaat might get you a wider and more accurate feedback loop on the specific dremel you're holding in hand.

Personally, regardless of how good the battery is, If you're going to use it for extended periods of time and don't have a pressing reason to use a cordless, I'd think a corded version would be better suited to the purpose.

No offense intended to whomever was nice enough to get you a dremel for your birthday! It's a kind thought, no matter. (my mom gave me a cordless several years ago...I couldn't bring myself to tell her that it sucked. TG she doesn't read this forum)

its cause a dremel is not gunna have enogh space inside of it for a battery with a ton of amps and lotsa volts. you need both those things for a good dremel

I have no experience with cordless but have a corded one.  I can not imagine that you could put a big enough battery in the handheld one to satisfy me.  I've used mine for half and hour or more at a time.

Hope this helps you make a decision.
