Just a thought, but would it be possible to use an arduino for a paintball board?

You mean like for an electronic fire control for 3 round bursts and what not? I'm fairly certain that you could considering the ones that are in such paintball guns are basically the same thing, they're not really too complicated.

It depends on your paintball marker. In some cases, you may be able to tap into the electromechanical actuator which releases the air.

Depending on how the solenoid is connected, you may have to drive it with a hefty transistor -- the arduino is unlikely able to drive it by itself.
