Could I use a scissor jack and attach a mount bracket to the jack for a router lift?

I was looking at the idea of gears and router table lifts. i thought for 20 bucks and some metal it could be done to lower and raise the height of the router  tool attached to a car scissors jack. can this be done with accuracy? Has any one tried it?

I think it would all matter on how well it was mounted and if it moved once in use. For the price I'd say its worth a try. All the parts can be found at any junk yard.
