Dell Inspiron 1525 Internal Webcam not responding/broken, Help?

The Webcam on my Dell Inspiron 1525 recently stopped working for no apparent reason, no changes were made to settings or hardware. It keeps telling me that no webcam is plugged it, and that I should attach one, The webcam is internal, and has had no previous problems. Any ideas on a fix?

Check the Dell site for webcam drivers and reinstall them, see if that fixes it. Here's the driver download page, I don't know if you run XP or Vista, so you'll want to make sure you get the right drivers for your OS, the one I linked you to is the driver for Vista. Here's the main page, the webcam driver is under Input Device Drivers. If the old driver is still on your machine, you should probably uninstall it before installing the new driver.

No such luck, Still trying to fix this problem, any Ideas? Is it possible that the webcam has just "burnt out"?
It's possible. You can look in the Device Manager and see if it shows up, if it's not there then there's a good chance it's fried. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager. Browse around, I wish I could tell you where it should be listed, but I don't currently have a web cam. If it's fried, you could try and replace it yourself, or send it in, provided your laptop is still under warranty.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 as well and mine just went out the other day like you said for no reason. i was using it for skype and the next day it gave me the message "failed to connect please reconnect webcam". I went to (control panel>hard drive and sound>device manager) under device manager on my laptop the 8th slot down says Imaging Devices and if you click the box to the side it should drop down and ahould say "Laptop Integrated Webcam" if you double click that a bow should come up and there should be 3 tabs in the top left corner. If you click driver it will give you the options of "Driver Details, Update Driver, Disable, Uninstall" if you click disable and then click okay then it will change to enable. Click enable and click okay at the bottom of the window. It willthen ask if you would like to restart the computer. Restart it and the webcam should be working when it turns back on. Sorry this is so long but it worked for me hopefully it works for you
Oh, thank you thank you, I love you!!!  This works!!!!

make sure the webcam is turned on in the bios. if you did i bios update at any point it may have been turned off, or if you the bios was reset might be another reason
