Delta sidekick saw with broken safety guard?

We have a Delta sidekick 10inch motorized miter box. With a broken safety guard. This hadn't been used very much when it broke and we were unable to buy a spare. We have started using it again, carefully , but I would feel a lot happier if it had a guard. Does anyone know if another make of guard will fit this  saw. Many thanks

I don't know of another make that would work, but try pawn shops and other second hand stores. You can usually find lots of tools (at a discount), and may find yours and can buy it for parts. (Just an idea).

I have tried a few stores with no luck and also was told that several others have been in asking for the same part so it must be rather weak. Thanks for the suggestion.
Try this page from Delta Machinery. They seem to have some available, but without a model number (or part number), I can't narrow down the search for you.
I found the part # (1342967), but unfortunately, the part has been discontinued and deemed obsolete by Delta, and there is no alternative listed. I visited all the websites that carry Delta parts and no one has any in stock.

So, I would suggest that you check local parts stores, distributors or repair technicians, in case someone has one sitting on a shelf (that doesn't sell online). There's also a chance that someone more familiar with that part may be able to suggest a competitive part that could work.

In case you need it, here's a pdf that breaks down all the components, the assembly and lists the part numbers.

That is so helpful thanks so much really appreciated
You're welcome. I wish I could've found you the part online, but hopefully you can find an alternative closer to where you live.

By the way, whenever you want, you can click on one of the blue buttons, and it will mark your question as "answered" on the main page. ;-)

Hi Psyaneyed , Thanks for that info. When we were in the USA at Christmas my husband managed to fix the saw and the safety guard. With a different spring and a bit of adaption but it works well and is safe. I do need to let people know that the company I have listed below Petersons did not have the right part in fact the part they sent was for a tractor and now I am trying to get my money back. Very frustrating. I have tried the website you listed but no luck there unfortunately.

Many thanks again

I felt the need to sign up and let you all know that the part that failed on mine was the spring inside the guard, all parts available through the manufacturer's website, here is where I found my parts www.deltamachineryparts.com

try send an e-mail to the corporation ordering a spare safety guard

Hi there, i have tried all of the suggestions with no luck. i have however now got a parts number. 1342967. i tried to find out if another safety guard could be adapted to fit but Delta seemed reluctant to give this information. they said nothing was an exact match, Any other help would be appreciated. I wonder if it is worth buying another one with a number close and just trying to make it fit or is this just a complete waste of time.
Try 3D print or CNC one. If not, try go to a company and order a custom made one or adapt a safety guard from another saw. Or you can also try report to a consumer organization saying that they renounced you a spare part. Search for a old saw equal to yours even with a malfunction but with the safety guard, buy it and use it's safety guard to replace your's
