Does anyone know how to make traditional Korean floor heating systems? They are called ondol.

I am going to build a house next year and I need information on how to build ondol, a traditional floor heating system.

The traditional one looks just like a Roman hypocaust. The modern Korean equivalent is underfloor heating like many use in the US and Europe - either waterpipes embedded in the floor, or electrical heaters likewise.

The ancient Korean system would be extremely inefficient.

Hopefully they are talking about  modern version of the old inefficient polluting version.

I've heard of it, but I'd rather have a modern underfloor heating system for a variety of reasons.
Yes. CO poisoning anyone ??
And beaucoup amounts of polluting wood or coal to fire it...

Google "ondol" and you'll get your answer.

Where are you building your home?
