Doll bedding: How do I make a mattress, bedding and curtains for a doll's bed?

I found this "American Girl"-type bed at Goodwill yesterday.  It measures 19 1/2" x 10 3/4" on the outside.  It has a canopy that needs curtains.  It needs a mattress and bedding. It shouldn't be too hard to make, but I just need help getting started.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I did search for doll bed, doll bedding and mattress on here and all I got was a cardboard dollhouse.

Thanks.  I'm having trouble locating a piece of foam around here for some reason.  I was hoping to find a pattern instead of trying to make it up myself.  Velcro is a good idea for the curtains.  Then she could take them off.

I made a bed for my daughter's american girl. Well I bought the wooden bed then I measured the area where the mattress goes and cut a piece of foam. Then I made a fitted sheet for it. I don't know if you have access to a sewing machine but it's pretty simple when you think about it. I also made a little pillow and I made a blanket from fleece and fringed the edges to make it look "cooler" . As far as the canopy goes, just measure and make simple panel curtains and tie them to the posts. Or maybe you can incorporate velcro somehow to fix them on there somehow?
Anyway good luck, maybe post some pics!
