Grass bioreactor

Hi, I tried building a grass bioreactor out of a 5 gallon bucket. I filled the bucket all the way to the top with grass and filled it with some water, closed it up, and then I let it set for 3 days. I used a lighter to try to to burn the gas, but all I saw was the lighter burning as usual. I am trying to get a reasonable amount of flammable gas for boosting car mpg.

If you're sticking to just grass, you need (a lot) more grass and more time.
you can try use a barrel or two, filled up with grass, water and a little of chicken manure. just adapt a record to the barrel's lid and a hose with a tap

Thanks for the answers. Will I have to leave it go for 2-3 weeks to get any reasonable amount the way I am doing it or should I go with a new reactor design?
Longer I would expect - adding some chicken manure will speed things up.
Yes, you need much more volume.

You shouldn't need much water just damp is Ok.

Adding animal or even human waste speeds matter up - Chicken waste is particularly good.

You would be better on a larger scale. A long 100 meters or so heavy duty plastic tube would be a good generator. tie a rope at each end and then another a bit further along to make an air lock for filling and emptying.

This is also a good design but requires more work.

If your adding animal waste then you will need more liquid.
