Guide for mixing frosting colors?

I need a chart to guide me in mixing red with blue, green with yellow, etc. to make different colors.  I am especially in need of mixing combination for black frosting.

For black frosting, I recommend starting with a chocolate frosting and adding black gel paste. It's much easier than adding a bunch of colors together to achieve the black.

I always use Americolor  soft gel paste which yields much brighter colors than regular food coloring. http://amzn.to/uxo7tp

+1. Great information. Something to keep in mind: 'volume quantities' of different pigments are not created equal. Red and blue will dominate yellow food colouring. 'a drop' is often too much if you want a 'touch' of blue. Instead, put a drop of the darker colour in a few mililitres of water, then just use a drop of that water to tint the lighter colour. --- As for black, it's a tough one. Subtractive colour rules would say 'add lots of all colours' -- trouble is you will end up with dark brown usually.
