Has there been a contest for making use of the plastic containers and/or their lids that yogurt/sour cream/etc. come in?

Because they can't really be recycled (don't kid yourself into believing that anything but 1s and 2s go anywhere but the landfill if your city collects them), I would love to see a useful second life for these materials besides the obvious planters or junk holders.

I wanted to throw out the idea of a contest to hopefully draw attention to the idea of reuse of this abundant material (plastic tubs/lids) that so often ends up in a landfill (or worse). With so many crafty and brilliant members on this site, I'm guessing the challenge would produce a number of creative and useful ideas.

'Twas just an idea.

There hasn't been a specific contest, but you could use them as the raw materials for entries into lots of other contests.
I have seen a lot of Instructables that reuse everything from making clothing from shopping bags to cooking a roast chicken in a brown paper bag and furniture from old skids.

There are green contests and a green forum where you can find a lot of reuse and repurposing Instructables are posted.

Like these Instructables:

Just a couple of mine as an example but there are hundreds of others by members of Instructables.
