Help me create a motion sensing AC outlet trigger?

Hello,

I would love to create some kind of motion sensing device that I could plug into a wall socket and then plug a AC 120V device into it that would be activated by the motion sensor being tripped.

The goal is to build something simpler and more cost effective than the infamous Blender Defender to keep pets off the counter top.

Looking to keep this cheap as possible within reason.

Would like to be able to make multiple units to plug into multiple wall sockets.

I have very little electronic experience but can follow good directions easily, I do have experience soldering though mainly speaker wire.

IR module, transistor, and relay.
Take a look at all the Instructables on the right>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Thank you, I was hoping for something a little bit more specific. I did look through many of the ones >>>>>>>> to the right but I have failed to locate one that is more up the line of what I am working on. Looking for something similar to this; http://www.amazon.com/SensorPlug-Motion-Activated-Electrical-Outlet/dp/B000A3CIUW/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Adafruit one is instructive and contains the information you need.

You have to add a transistor and relay like the attached circuit.

You'll also probably need to mess around with the timing components described in the Adafruit artivle
