Help with iPod Touch Storage?

I have an iPod Touch(4th gen, 8GB) and I've noticed a few discrepancies in the storage. When I add up the space taken up by my 'stuff'(apps, music, etc) I get about 1.6 GB, but the thing on the iPod say I've taken up 3.4 GB. Is this normal, and if not, what can I do about it?

If you back up your apps and music to iTunes, you could always do a "Reset to Factory Settings", which I figure, should solve the problem.

Did you hit the show all apps at the bottom of the list? I'm guessing you didn't.

Mine totals out to about 21.9 GB and the iTouch shows 22.6Gb used. Which is about right. I may have missed something in the tally.

You'll also notice your total memory is short of 8GB. Part of that is due to very minor problems in the flash memory so its missing a few sectors of memory. Also its not accounting for the amount of space the OS takes up.
