How Can I Keep A German Shepherd Puppy From Being Bored When Im At Work?

i have now sucessfully saved up enough money to get the puppy i have always wanted but i am afraid that it will get bored while i am at work and will wreck everything in the house any suggestions on what i could do?

In addition to the other good advice already posted (especially daycare), be sure to give him an assortment of chew toys. Dogs need to chew a LOT when they are teething and the super-chewy stage lasts until about 18 months.

Rotate several different toys every few days so he won't get bored with them. Make sure you have different materials and textures, including one with treats stuffed into nooks and crannies.

Exercise before and after work will help tremendously. A tired dog is a happy dog.

In addition to good excercise, doggie daycare a couple days per week will give him essential socialization.

Why did you always want this puppy (which will pretty quickly become a big, demanding dog) - no children?

Do you know anyone who could "look after" the dog when you're at work?

Google "crate training". I crate trained my dogs and they both stay there when I'm away. They often sleep in their crates even when I'm home.

It needs company and walking Puppies are full of curiosity and energy - they need an outlet or they will chew you furniture to bits.

Employ a reliable dog walker.

As a passing comment buying a pup and leaving it alone all day is unfair on the dog - BUT too late now i guess.

We take our pup to day care 3 times a week and the older dog is a friend
the rest of the time.
