How can I low level format my netbook Hard Drive?

Hey there guys, I've got this here problematic netbook. The only way I'm getting it to even run right now, and I am typing from now, is by padding the hard drive with a like 14gb partition of blank space at the start of the drive because theres so many bad sectors there I can't even install to it...

The hard drive is still operational here guys, it just got dropped one day when it was running and so obviously there might be some kind of damage to the drive but it works great when it wants to and in some areas of the drive when you're saving files or running a program it just freezes right up.

We used to be able to low level format hard drives years ago to fix bad sectors, what ever happened to that? Some manufacturers still let you do that but this drive is a fujitsu hard drive and the only old antiqued software I can find is for IDE drives from them.

I really don't have the money for a new drive and being it's a sata drive I don't exactly just have a spare hard drive kicking around, and I've thought about running windows from an external hd but it wouldn't be very portable now would it.
