How can I make a vu meter from an 100ma panel meter?

I want to build an vu meter from my 100ma panel meter but I don't know how to. I am a beginner and it must be cheap . Please help me whit this problem! 
I have a panel meter like this

Take a look at the ratings of the meter, and find out what ACTUAL current its designed to measure - that critical parameter affects the components you need.

Then take a look at circuits like this one

It can be VERY easy to make a "VU" STYLE meter, if you're really concerned with it meeting the RIAA specs, then you have to spend some more effort.

There is NO need to use a microcontroller !!

thanks, but what you show, there's a little problem. not everything is displayed on the first circuit, for example the capacity of the capacitor, but it is easy so no problem

....so the values have to be chosen by you. Basically, you are making an RC network, with a timeconstant of about 0.2 seconds - which means you need to know R,.
First you need to know how much voltage the meter can take. Then using that information you can design a circuit that will take the audio signal and translate it into a small voltage to move the meter. No an easy task even for many who are experienced in electronics. Chances are that you will need to use a micro controller with the meter to get the results you want.
