How can I programme a AVR microcontroller with this board?
I got this board frm a frnd.....I wd like to knw how can I programme a AVR microcontroller with this board?
Will I need a separate usbisp programmer r this is enough..... r a makeshift arrangement can b done....

That being said, knowing the type of board (such as name/model number), would go a long way in people being able to offer you the assistance you need to get going.

atmega 16A PU 1M3 is the microcontroller...... its a locally made dev board

Your board is a commercially made product (such as an identical one available here). It is a standard AVR development board similar, but likely older, to an Arduino board. Since there is a USB port on the board, you could likely use an IDE program on your computer to program the chip. You should check on the Atmel website for compatable programs. Go here to get yourself started. My feeling is that the Arduino people were using boards similar to this before they created their products.

No, it doesn't look like that board has the smarts to program the microcontroller. You need at the minimum something like an arduino to program the AVR
