How can I receive IR signal and send it trough wires?

 I want to place a device inside a close enclosure. The device in on warranty, so I don't want to take it apart. The device works with a remote control, so I was wondering if there is an easy way to mount another IR receiver that  will pick up the signal and sent the to a IR emitter via wire. I can't place the device close to one of the sides of the enclosure and open a hole for the IR receiver.

Are you trying to make a remote device so you can operate a vcr player or something behind closed doors or something like that?

If yes, then you need an ir receiver and control circuit that fits that receiver, wire, and an Ir diode.  Put the new receiver where you can hit it with your remote control and put the new emitter where the player can see it.  What you need for circuitry between them depends on what your ir receiver needs and what your ir trans. needs.

Here's a good circuit.  You could extend the length of wire on ir2 and ir3.
Here's another one that is simpler.  But I  don't know if this one is proven or not.

I just googled "ir extender circuit".

Some of the ir receivers may be available with the control circuit built in.

If you happen to have HDMI cables running near it, you can use the Sewell InjectIR. It attaches to the ends of an HDMI cable and just uses that cable. No extra cables needed.

There are quite a few IR extender/repeaters on the market for just the purpose you describe. Google IR extenders and pages and pages come up.
